Bokuyaba as it is abbreviated is a curious case of audience, because although it was not so successful in Japan it was very well received here in the West. Season 1 aired between April and June this year and achieved an average of 8.26/10 from more than 92,000 votes on Myanimelist (Note: This rating is given by users and may vary with new votes computed). The teenage romance tells the story of Ichikawa, an antisocial and short boy who believes he has evil impulses that will make him someone scary in the future. He however falls in love with Anna Yamada, a girl with an innocent and detached personality as well as being addicted to sweets and savory snacks. Both begin to interact and become close friends with the expectation that the friendship will become something more in the future. The series adapts the manga by Norio Sakurai, which surpassed 3 million copies sold in the initial 8 volumes.
