Movie Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi

The animation film Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi (The Girl, the Tiger, and the Fish), which is based on the works of novelist Tanabe, was announced at the end of 2019.

The studio is called Bones. Yesterday, a new trailer for the feature film was released, confirming that it will open in Japanese theaters on December 25. It is important to note that the content will be made available on tangible media in three to nine months, and it might even make its way to a streaming service that provides access to Westerners.

The story will show the relationship and growth of young Tsuneo and dreamer Josee. He is a college student and she is a girl who rarely leaves the house because she is wheelchair-bound. Josee, who usually spends her time reading and painting, meets Tsuneo when her grandmother takes her for a morning walk. This encounter begins their friendship and, strengthened by their relationship, the girl decides to face the real world, no longer hiding behind her limitations.

The One Shot (short story) was written by Tanabe in 1984. The following year, publisher Kadokawa released the material in the West as a novel that was reprinted in 1987. The film will be directed by Koutarou Tamura, with a script by Sayaka Kuwamura, the soundtrack by Evan Call (who composed "Violet Evergarden") and the character designs by Nao Emoto. In the dubbing, Tsuneo will be played by Taishi Nakagawa, Josee will be voiced by Kara Kiyohara and Mai will be voiced by Yume Miyamoto (Asukai from "Id:Invaded").
