Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru (The Best Assassin on Earth Reincarnates as an Aristocrat in Another World), will get a second season, according to an official announcement made today in Japan. The first anime aired in 2021 and gained significant popularity thanks to the controversies involving author Rui Tsukiyo.
With no premiere date yet, the sequel is expected to keep the same staff, including general direction by Masafumi Tamura.
Ansatsusha tells the story of a lethal assassin who, betrayed and eliminated, has an encounter with a certain goddess in the afterlife. She offers him the opportunity to be reborn as Lugh De Thuata, son of a powerful line of aristocratic assassins in a fantasy world. Lugh must grow and develop his skills to the maximum with the aim of eventually eliminating the next Yuusha (hero) who has become corrupted. Along the journey he gains 3 valuable allies:
Maha, Dia and Tarte who see him with romantic interest. In dubbing, the series includes names like Kenji Akabane (Lugh), Yuuki Takada (Tarte), Shino Shimoji (Maha) and Reina Ueda (Dia). According to the official website, the work sold 1.4 million copies between light novel and manga.
