Another trailer for Arknights' second season

Arknights 2, アークナイツ 冬隠帰路 2, Arknights: Perish in Fros, Arknights: Fuyukomori Kaerimichi

Studio Yostar Pictures today revealed a new video and illustration for Arknights, confirming the premiere of season 2 on October 6, 2023. Titled Arknights: Perish In Frost, the anime will have 8 episodes, totaling 16 when added to "Prelude to Dawn" shown last year. The opening song is titled "Ache In Pulse" performed by the group Myth & Roid, while the ending of the episodes will be called "R.I.P" with the voice of singer ReoNa.

Having a good look, the series is inspired by a mobile game with the same title, launched in 2019 by Chinese developers Montagne and Hypergryph. The plot takes place in a dystopian world inhabited by anthropomorphic beings (half human, half animal). After a major social collapse caused by the Oripathy virus — the result of a mineral that grants special powers to the user — the survivors now inhabit floating mega clusters facing other factions in search of dominance. In this context, the character Amiya and the military unit from the mobile city of Rodhes appear, whose mission is to help and protect a certain forgotten Doctor who can bring a cure to the epidemic. Season 2 will be directed by Yuuki Watanabe with assistance from Masaki Nishikawa. The voice cast includes names like Tomoyo Kurosawa (Amiya), Yuki Kaida (she voices the Doctor), Shizuka Ishigami (Ch'en), Sayaka Senbongi (Crownslayer) and Atsumi Tanezaki (Dobermann).
